A cup of coffee, two cups of coffee what is the required amount and is too much coffee or hot black coffee really all that bad. Well let’s find out shall we.

Caffeine is the active ingredient in coffee so we will dwell on caffeine

Caffeine is a stimulant that excites the nerves cells of the brain, it is safe however missing one’s habitual consumption of coffee and caffeinated drinks may lead to adverse reactions.

Simple things like missing one’s regular morning coffee can lead to symptoms like headache, fatigue, difficulty in concentration and even the usual body pains

So you may be asking how much can I take well between 2- 3 cups of coffee precisely 200-300mg daily however Moderate caffeine consumption per day for most adults.

This may surprise you but coffee has been found to reduce the risk of Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, gallstones and liver disease; It is also used in antiaging creams to smoothen the skin and remove wrinkles ,though it is helpful in reducing disease it should not be taken in large quantities when pregnant. Too much coffee can kill.

Your regular morning cup of coffee lasts how long? Any guesses yes about 5 – 6 hours . And the older you are the more sensitive you become to caffeine and yes men are more sensitive to it than women.

Enjoy your cup of coffee.

There are but four games remaining in World Cup 2010, and we shouldn’t even count the third/four place game, which is about as pointless as putting your money on England to win the whole shebang in the first place.

It’s arguably worse to lose the semi-final than the final itself as, from the fans’ perspective, you have a day to remember and if you’re lucky enough to be participating, it might add a zero to your transfer valuation. But enough of such frivolities! This may well be a blog but that doesn’t mean we take these games lightly. Far from it: so let’s look ahead to whether the Dutch can continue to dominate or if Uruguay will usurp them. And will it be ground-breaking Germany or the slightly stuttering Spanish? Alliteration be damned! Here’s your semi-final preview.

Tuesday, July 6: Uruguay vs. Holland — Ode to Orange
Many tears were shed come the end of Uruguay’s get out of jail victory over Ghana last Friday. The only African side to make it through to the knockout phase were caught with a sucker punch of their own: Luiz Suarez’s handball denied a certain winner, the ensuing penalty kick was missed by Asamoah Gyan who, despite scoring in the shootout, couldn’t prevent his team from losing. Suarez, of course, is banned from the semi-final (though FIFA’s confirmed he’ll be eligible to play in the final) but will this prove a match too far for the rest of his side? Uruguayans will be looking to Diego Forlan and Sebastian Abreu (who didn’t just score the cheeky quarter-final winner but the goal that got Uruguay to South Africa last year) to shoot them to glory, while the back line attempts to stop one of Holland’s key men, winger Arjen Robben, who is now fit and flying after missing the start of the tournament due to a hamstring injury. Canny coach Oscar Tabarez has apparently drawn up a plan to stop him — perhaps he’s been speaking with the German students — and this should be the clash of the day.

The Dutch have quietly gone about their business, and presumably pay no mind to the criticism that’s come their way — in a word, unambitious — but you feel like they couldn’t care less, happy to show you their 100% record in their eight qualifying games, which now has added to it a further five victories in a row in South Africa. In total, Holland’s unbeaten run stretches to 24 matches. Manager Bert van Marwijk has managed to keep the all too common demon from infiltrating the ranks — in a word, self-implosion — and will be delighted from the effort shown by the likes of Wesley Sneijder, goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg (Edwin van der Who?), Dirk Kuyt and Joris Mathijsen. They’ve been so impressive that they’ve even been able to carry Robin van Persie, who has yet to deliver. As for Uruguay, the feeling persists that they still can’t believe (their luck?) that they’ve reached the semis, and quotes of, “We are among the four best teams at this World Cup…This is something we would never have imagined before coming to South Africa” (said by coach Tabarez) aren’t uncommon. Indeed, they should be delighted with making the semis for the first time since 1970 but it’s unlikely they’ll go any further. But perhaps lasting longer than neighbors Brazil and Argentina is almost akin to winning the World Cup itself.

Prediction: Uruguay 0-1 Holland
Wednesday, July 7: Germany vs. Spain — Boys Become Mannschaft
This re-run of the EURO 2008 final could just be the best game of the 2010 World Cup (no pressure lads!). And as surprising as it would have sounded on June 11, it will now be perceived as a slight shock if Germany doesn’t win the game. They’ve put four goals past three teams, and are two games from their one true goal: lifting a fourth World Cup. The Germans have never gone more than 20 years without winning the trophy and, ominously for the remaining teams, their last triumph was in 1990. They’ve been brilliantly led by coach Joachim Löw, who has been utterly unafraid to believe in youth (he’s also been utterly unafraid to wear those shocking shirts, but that’s for another blog entry), with the core of the 2009 Under-21 European championship side (and can you guess what score they won that final by? Yup, 4-0) performing with a style and swagger beyond their years. The likes of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, centre-back Jerome Boateng and, the breakout star of this World Cup, midfielder Mesut Özil have effortlessly stepped up a gear and, notwithstanding the group defeat to Serbia — which even included the rare missing of a penalty! — have been ruthless in the knockout phase, putting England and Argentina to the sword. Diego Maradona’s mouth is still agape.

Löw has admitted that he’s modeled his team on the opposition this Wednesday and stated that Spain’s “passing game is a celebration of football.” But despite reaching their first ever World Cup semi-final, the Spanish have yet to truly click and the fact that there’s uncertainty surrounding their starting XI puts them on the back foot. And the back foot is where striker Fernando Torres has spent the tournament: it wouldn’t be a surprise if Vicente del Bosque drops him for either Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas or Manchester City’s new signing David Silva. What is in their favor is that the other David, Villa, has been sublime, Iker Casillas won’t be easily beaten at the other end and Germany will miss the suspended Thomas Müller, another product of the youth system, who has been on a tear thus far. But while Spain will look to past glories to spur them on, Germany’s young guns will be feeling as if they can’t lose. And with their own old boy, Miroslav Klose, closing in on the all time World Cup scoring record, destiny seems to be with Germany. It will take a Spanish Armada to stop them.

Prediction: Germany 2-1 Spain

Life, as I have come to find out is all about goal setting; goal setting plays a major role in the life of an individual. You know what you want from life and this desire acts as a guide to develop your focus. Goal setting however is more than simply scribbling down some ideas on a piece of paper. Our goals need to be complete and focused, much like a road map. Ever seen a person without goals? It’s pathetic because they go from day to day with no sense of direction or focus. This lack of direction makes them vulnerable to failures because they have no focus.

Though this state of inconsistency can be changed by first trying to discipline yourself . In trying to discipline yourself you have to work for what you want, not for what you want to leave behind. Part of the reason why we write down and examine our goals is to create a set of instructions for our subconscious mind to carry out. Your subconscious mind is a very efficient tool, it can not determine right from wrong and it does not judge. It’s only function is to carry out its instructions. The more positive instructions you give it, the more positive results you will get. Once you have decided your first set of plans, keep the process going by reviewing and updating your to-do list on a daily basis. Periodically review the longer term plans, and modify them to reflect your changing priorities and experience. Every time you make a decision during the day, ask yourself this question, “Does it take me closer to, or further from my goal.” If the answer is “closer to,” then you’ve made the right decision. If the answer is “further from,” well, you know what to do.

There are different symptoms for leukaemias and lymphomas Symptoms of leukaemias include: Anaemia – patient unusually pale, weak and tired frequent infections, fevers, chills, or flu-like symptoms, easy bruising or bleeding Night sweats Bone or joint pain Weight loss swollen lymph nodes, tender to the touch Leukaemia cells can also affect the testicles, causing swelling, or affect the spinal column and cause headaches, seizures and vomiting.

The different types of leukaemia develop in different ways. Acute leukaemias progress rapidly, whereas in chronic leukaemia, symptoms take longer to develop and the decline is far less swift. Some of the symptoms of lymphomas can be very similar to those of leukaemia.

The main difference is a painless rather than tender swelling of the lymph nodes, particularly in the neck, under the arms or around the groin. Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s patients also often suffer night sweats, unexplained fevers, fatigue and weight loss. There can also be itchy skin or red patches. The first thing a doctor will do to investigate suspicions of leukaemia or lymphoma is carry out a physical examination. The lymph nodes in the neck, under the arms and in the groin will be “palpated”, or felt. It can be slightly uncomfortable, but not painful. A doctor can also feel for unusual swellings in the liver, which can happen if lymphoma spreads to that organ. Blood tests, known as “full blood counts” will also give a strong clue as to both the presence of disease – and what type it is. The numbers of various types of cell, mature and immature, are physically counted to make sure there are the right number. Another key test is the x-ray or CT scan, which can look for swellings in the lymph nodes, liver, lungs and spleen. In the case of leukaemia, this may take the form of taking a sample of bone marrow, normally from the hip with a needle. Sometimes a sample of bone is taken for analysis. If this confirms the presence of leukaemia cells, a lumbar puncture, which involves inserting a needle through the back into the lower spine takes more fluid for analysis.

This is usually a relatively painless procedure. For lymphoma, a biopsy of lymph nodes, normally from the neck and underarm area is taken to check for disease. All this information will help doctors work out how aggressive the cancer is, and how far it has already spread. The causes of lymphoma and leukaemia have not yet been established. However, in Hodgkin’s lymphoma, there appears to be a connection with a virus called the Epstein-Barr virus. This is the virus which causes glandular fever, and Hodgkin’s is often found in people in their 20s. However, the incidence of glandular fever is high among this age group – and the number of Hodgkin’s cases is very low.

There are two types of stroke – those caused by blood clots in the brain and those that occur when blood vessels burst. In both cases, the brain is starved of oxygen, damaging or killing cells. Sufferers are often left with difficulty talking, walking and performing other basic tasks. The chance of suffering a stroke is cut by eating healthily, quitting smoking and drinking less alcohol. People at risk of stroke are often treated with aspirin. After a stroke, various drug treatments are available and reIn both types of stroke – those caused by blood clots and those caused by burst blood vessels – blood supply to the brain is interrupted, depriving the cells of oxygen and other nutrients. The cells are then damaged or die. Mini-strokes, or transient ischaemic attacks (TIAs), may be a warning sign of an imminent full-blown stroke. Rehabilitation is commonly used to improve patients’ speech and movement.

Drugs to treat heart conditions and stroke adjust the working of the heart or circulation of the blood. Most are taken orally as tablets or capsules to be swallowed, but they can come in the form of tablets held under the tongue, aerosols or patches. Drugs can also be administered directly into a vein or a muscle.

The key symptom of lung cancer is a persistent cough that gradually gets worse. Other symptoms include: shortness of breath drop in ability to exercise persistent chest pain persistent cough or coughing up blood loss of appetite, weight loss and general fatigue At present there is no effective screening test for lung cancer. If you are worried that you have lung cancer, your doctor may order a chest X-ray, which allows doctors to look out for shadowy areas on the lungs. Sometimes a more detailed series of x-rays, called a CT scan, is ordered. In many cases, this will be followed by a bronchoscopy or mediastinoscopy, which means that a thin flexible telescope is put down the airways of your lungs, after which a biopsy of any suspicious area is performed. Causes Most lung cancer cases are caused by smoking cigarettes.

Even passive smoking can cause a problem, and the longer period over which the patient smokes, the higher the risks. Breathing in other carcinogens in the workplace, for example asbestos, can also trigger cancer. Some people seem to be genetically pre-disposed to developing lung cancer, and medical checks in smokers may in future look for these key genes to work out how likely lung cancer is. Treatments Treatment depends on the type of lung cancer and the state or extent of the disease. There are two types of lung cancer, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). The names simply describe the type of cell found in the tumours.

In NSCLC, the tumour is often located in the outside part of the lung, away from the centre, and if it has not spread, it may be possible to remove it by surgery. However, overall less than a fifth of all NSCLC patients are suitable for surgery. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy will also be considered in many cases. Unfortunately, NSCLC is hard to cure, and in many cases, the treatment given will be to prolong life as far as possible – and relieve symptoms.

What is a cancer cell?

And just as there are hundreds of types of cell, there are hundreds of types of cancer, few of which can be treated in the same way. Every cell’s life is mapped out in advance by coded instructions, called genes, held in its nucleus. These tell it how to behave, when to reproduce by dividing – and when to die. When the instructions relating to cell multiplication and dying are wrong, the cell may start dividing uncontrollably, and not die when it should. In addition, the cancer may not follow the usual instructions that keep cells spaced out properly. Every time the cell divides, the “bad” instruction is reproduced, so the out-of-control multiplication carries on. As these cells can be multiplying more rapidly than healthy cells, the cancer cells can form a growing lump in the body called a tumour or a lesion. As this gets larger, it can even grow its own vessels to keep it supplied with blood. A benign, or non-cancerous tumour shares this uncontrolled growth, but will not generally invade neighbouring tissues and damage them. Tumours which do this are “malignant”, or “cancerous”. The type of cell in which the cancer starts will generally determine the speed at which it grows, and its resistance to treatment, although there are many variations. Cancers harm health in a number of ways. The very size of the tumour can interfere with nearby organs, or ducts which carry important chemicals, causing pain or other symptoms. For example, a tumour on the pancreas can grow to block the bile duct, leading to the patient developing obstructive jaundice. And a brain tumour can push on important parts of the brain, causing blackouts, fits and other problems. Even benign tumours can cause these problems if located in the wrong place. When a cancer invade nearby tissues, they can cause bleeding from damaged blood vessels, and stop the organ which they are invading from working properly.

What happens if it spreads? As a tumour grows, cells can break off and start growing on adjacent tissues and organs. For example, if a bowel cancer has spread through the wall of the bowel itself, it can start growing on the bladder. Cells can also enter the bloodstream and travel to distant organs, such as the lungs or brain. The technical term for this is “metastasis”. When new tumours form on distant organs, they behave like the original tumour – so a bowel cancer cell growing in the lung will not be lung cancer. Once other organs are involved, then any symptoms of the cancer can get worse. However, it may be some time before a growing cancer in certain parts of the body produces symptoms that the patient can notice. Once a cancer has started to spread beyond its original site, then the chances of a cure often begin to fall, as it becomes more difficult to treat. How is it treated? There are three principal ways of treating cancer. The first is surgery, normally an operation to remove the cancerous growth, and, depending on its type, nearby tissues and organs. A cancer patient may first undergo a minor operation called a biopsy to take a small sample of the cancer for analysis. The surgeon will try to remove as much of the cancer as possible, but sometimes extra treatment will be needed. This could either take the form of radiotherapy or chemotherapy, or a combination of treatments.

Simply by changing your habitual vocabulary (words) you use to describe the emotions in your life, you can immediately change how you think, feel and how you live. It’s important to realize that words shape your beliefs and impact your actions. People will cling to their beliefs for dear life – even when they are wrong! Take control of your life right now! When you make a statement with the words: not, don’t, won’t, no, can’t, you actually give attention and focus to what you don’t want. What if I said to you, “Don’t think of the color blue.”You’re now thinking of the color blue, 100% for sure. Your conscious and unconscious mind edited out the “don’t”.

So when you hear or say to yourself… Don’t worry. Don’t smoke. Don’t forget. This won’t hurt… you just give more attention to what you don’t want. So what do you say to yourself? Maybe you say to yourself “Why can’t I be successful?” When you ask yourself a question using words like that the answer back is usually something like: I can’t because I’m not smart enough” I can’t because I’m not educated enough” I can’t because I was not prepared” I can’t because I have no money” Wow!! How disemboweling as those answers? Your brain is like a computer. “Garbage In Garbage Out” If you ask yourself a bad question, you’ll get a bad answer. Choose better words to ask a better question and you’ll get a better answer. Simple but, oh, SO powerful! Just change the words Instead of saying… Why can’t I be successful” Change it to…What changes do I need to make in order to become Successful?” What answers do you think you’ll get now? Ask a better question and you’ll get a better answer”. Or put a statement into the past. For example “I can’t make any money” Change that to “In the past, it was hard to make money”. Other examples I hate” becomes “I prefer”. “Failure” becomes “Getting educated”. “Overwhelmed” becomes “Challenged”. “Depressed” becomes “Not on top of it”. “Rejected” becomes “Misunderstood”. We all use words and phrases everyday that dis-empower us and attract things we don’t want. Just replace them with words and phrases that em-power you. Words create emotions. And those emotions create our experiences, which shape’s your destiny. So why not create emotions and experiences that attract the things. You want in your life?
