Today was my day to go for our regular church cleaning. I was so tired, but somehow I managed to get out of bed. Oh my goodness, it is already 6:45am, and I am supposed to be in church by 6:30. What do I do? Take a bath and then wear some decent clothes? Nah that would take too long.

I’ll just throw on some clothes and once I’m done head straight home. It sounded like a perfect plan. Execution begins. I am ready. I got an okada to drop me off at Mushin and then took a bus to Yaba and then the final bus to my destination. It is almost 10 minutes after 7am. I can still make it; afterall I approached the day with an optimistic mindset.

At this point a man calls out to me, “omo e le ran,no push me o jare!”.Which being translated in the English language is “meat seller, don’t push me” Whaaaaat!!!!!!! I glanced down at the clothes of which I am convinced holds more prestige than what I was just called. To my amazement, I discover that my t-shirt is worn the right side up, as if that is not bad enough, I am still in awe, because I cannot for the life of me explain how I got all the way to Mushin with only one leg of my bathroom slippers…..

After my 6 day journey to the Gold Coast, I was totally exhausted. I’d have to admit, the trip was absolutely uplifting. I did a lot of soul searching and I really had a great time. However, when you do come out of that realm, the body begins to remind you that you probably overworked it. So at the point, I was so looking forward to having a cold shower, get some food in my tummy and head straight to bed once I got home.

Alas, the first thing that hit me once I stepped into the shores of Nigeria was the traffic. Okay, I am going to keep my cool and put up with it, because there is nothing I could do anyway. After 2 hours of honking and screaming at selfish and careless motorist on the road. I finally reach my house. At least I am home. I start to pile my stuff out of the car, working out in my head the series of chores I’m going to be doing for the next three hours

I call out “Grandpa, are you there?” I figure, he is probably gone out visiting. So I guess I only have to bother about filling one tummy….mine! So I am thinking, it is best I start with the cooking. I head for the kitchen and…ahhaaaa! THERE IS A LIZARD in the sink!!! He looks up at me as if to say “Hi Sally, I’m here for my meal too”. Talk about a day going upside down.

I sincerely apologize to all the fans of the “fired blogger” series. I am so sorry I have been away for s0-0-0-0-0 long but not to worry this blogger has fully resumed. Just to bring you up to speed, I am no longer fired but HIRED, as a matter of fact I own a coy with some of my friends. Isn’t that cool? We have developed a legal software called LEGALPEDIA for the Nigerian Legal community and have just started marketing it and are on the fringe of releasing something really big! Hmmm … an Estate manager turns to a software developer? I must confess it has not been easy but, as we know nothing good comes easy. I will be putting regular posts on how this happened and the different things we have been up to and the different marketing experiences we have had. PLs stay tuned and don’t go away…
