One of the simplest sounding ‘tricks’ of successful eCommerce and online eBusiness is to retain focus on your actual core business. It is far too easy and too common to get so tied up in the details; in additions and side-issues that you lose focus on the aspects of your site that are really their reasons for being.
If your primary business is sales then you need to keep that focus in mind, and in your content, throughout your website and online campaigns. Don’t try to become a portal, or anything else that doesn’t actually fit your business plan. Your eCommerce success is not based on coming up top in every search, nor in having affiliates, etc. Those things are only a means to your business success, not a goal in themselves.
For an example, consider the case of one of my clients who had a sales oriented site. He had a fair conversion rate of visitors to customers, but was getting far too few visitors to sustain his business. He submitted his site to the search engines and waited for a while, and started to get more visitors. Seeing this success, he then decided to seek higher rankings in the search engines for searches relating to the products he sold.
What happened was that as he ‘tweaked’ the code and text on his pages, he did indeed get higher ranking and more visitors. Unfortunately however, those pages were effectively his ‘sales pitch’ and having tweaked them for the search engines, he’d made them ineffectual in convincing his visitors to buy. The end result was that with 5 times the visitors of before, he was making less than half the total number of sales that he had done before changing the text around so much.
His business ‘focus’ was sales, but he’d weakened his entire sales pitch in the pursuit of higher traffic, at the expense of what truly counted. In the end, with my help, he was able to reaffirm his sales focus, while still getting plenty of potential buyers at his site each day. However, he had lost a lot of potential profit during the months that traffic was high but sales were poor.
Look to your core eCommerce activities, and maintain your focus for your true business. In this way, you save more time and attention for what truly counts and can develop your true strengths.

Okay! where were we? Oh, we were talking about mastering money, I guess that’s better than mastering writting except you make money from it. Well, I think I fall into that category, I’ve got to write to make money along side other thing I do, today we are going to look at one more review from the book “The Richest Man In Babylon” by George Clason and some links to related items. So here we go…

You Can Become Rich On What You Now Earn June 14, 2005
Harvey L. Gardner from White House, TN USA

The best advice is often free. The solutions to life’s toughest problems are often the most simple. They’re not easy, but they are simple. Perhaps that is why the best advice too often is ignored. It’s just too simple to be believable.

The advice offered by “The Richest Man In Babylon” is so simple that it most often is ignored. Yet it reveals the only reliable secret to obtaining wealth. It is a simple (and safe) secret for obtaining riches. It is hard to execute, but it is unfailing. The title of the book is taken for one of a collection of parables in the volume. All are pregnant with practical wisdom. All will work. Read “The Richest Man In Babylon” to place yourself on the one true road to riches.

As an investment advisor for nearly 30 years, I’ve never known any other method of obtaining wealth that is availble to anybody who earns a paycheck. But it is universally ignored. If you read this book, and heed it’s advice, you will become rich, and you can do it starting right now, in your present job. Buy the book. Read it. Insist that your children, and their children, read it. It will be like teaching them to dig in a vein of pure gold.

How was that? I guess you are still pondering, hang on for the next topic in this series. See ya. Oh! sorry I almost forgot about the links, here they are;

In this first series of Mastering Money, I will like to share with you an overview of the book and what people got from the book “The Richest Man In Babylon” by George Clason. This book holds the secrets to acquiring money, keeping money, and making money earn more money.Millions of readers have become familiar with George S. Clason’s famous “Babylonian parables” through the distribution of these success secrets of the ancients by banks, insurance companies, investment houses and employers. Acclaimed as the greatest of all inspirational works on the subject of thrift and financial planning, these fascinating and informative stories have become a modern classic in their field.

In language as simple as that of the Bible, this book presents a sure path to prosperity and happiness. It offers an understanding of—and a solution to—your personal financial problems which will guide you successfully through a lifetime. The Richest Man in Babylon is a book you will want to read yourself, recommend to friends, and give to young people just starting out in life.

The Richest Man In Babylon July 10, 2006
Mathias Olsson from Sweden

The Richest Man In Babylon should be a obligated read in school. It teaches the fundamentals behind getting wealthy. Many people hides behind the words “I don´t earn enough”, “I can´t do that” etc etc. Thoose words can´t be held after reading this book. You don´t have any excuse anymore. Keep a part of what you earn and invest it wisely. Simple and clear. But easy isn´t the right word. It will take a while before you learn the wise part. But every game needs a learning section does it not? The best book ever in wealth creation for the ordinary man.Are you getting the gist, this is quite interesting. I am going to continue next time with another review of the book and make available similar items on this subject. See you.

In a report recently released by United Nations International Labour Organisation (ILO), the global number of unemployed youth aged 15 – 24 rose by nearly 15 percent over the last decade; more than 300 million others, about 25% of the youth population were living below the $2.00 poverty line and at least 400 million new jobs were needed to fill in for the job shortage.

Interestingly, the revelation is made during a time of increased economic growth in countries world wide, but the more reason for anxiety is the fact that the inability and/or unwillingness of economies/politicians to create enough decent and productive jobs is hitting the world’s young people hardest. The report found that in most regions of the world young people are nearly three times more like to be unemployed than adults, with a ratio of 2.8 unemployed youth for every unemployed adult. “Despite increased economic growth, the inability of economies to create enough decent and productive jobs is hitting the world’s young especially hard”, said ILO Director-General Juan Somavia.

This is creating anxiety because we are not only seeing a growing deficit of decent work opportunities and high level of economic uncertainty, but an impending situation which threatens to damage the future economic prospects of one of the world’s greatest assets, young men and women. “It is an undeniable tenet – and now one that is recognized within the UN as well as other international organizations and governments – that only through decent employment opportunities can young people get the chance to work themselves out of poverty,”

What are we going to do to cub this, do you know? I do, you can join us in mainly two business models that have been predicted by renowned International Research and Trends Analysts to produce the next 10 million dollar millionaires over the next ten years, worldwide, thus we are positioned and poised for imminent success.

When Thomas Edison invented the light bulb, he tried over 2000 experiments before he got it to work. A young reporter asked him how it felt to fail so many times. He said, “I never failed once. I invented the light bulb. It just happened to be a 2000-step process.”Wilma Rudolph was the 20th of 22 children. She was born prematurely and her survival was doubtful. When she was 4 years old, she contacted double pneumonia and scarlet fever, which left her with a paralysed left leg. At age 9, she removed the metal leg brace she had been dependent on and began to walk without it. By 13 she had developed a rhythmic walk, which doctors said was a miracle. That same year she decided to become a runner. She entered a race and came in last. For the next few years every race she entered, she came in last. Everyone told her to quit, but she kept on running. One day she actually won a race. And then another. From then on she won every race she entered. Eventually this little girl, who was told she would never walk again, went on to win three Olympic gold medals. When Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in 1876, it did not ring off the hook with calls from potential backers. After making a demonstration call, President Rutherford Hayes said, “That’s an amazing invention, but who would ever want to use one of them?” But today what will the world be without them.In the 1940s, another young inventor named Chester Carlson took his idea to 20 corporations, including some of the biggest in the country. They all turned him down. In 1947 – after seven long years of rejections! He finally got a tiny company in Rochester, New York, the Haloid company, to purchase the rights to his invention an electrostatic paper-copying process. Haloid became Xerox Corporation we know today. At age seven, a young boy and his family were sent out of their rented apartment, at nine, is mother passed away. At age twenty-three, his business partner died living him with huge debts that took him years to repay. At age thirty-seven, on his third try he became a congress man, but failed to be re-elected. He lost his son of four years old. At age forty-five, he ran for the senate but failed to be elected. He ran for vice-presidency at age forty-seven, but again lost. Finally at age fifty-one, he became the president of the USA. His name was Abraham Lincoln. The Moral of the above Stories: Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experiences of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved. You gain strength, experience and confidence by every experience where you really stop to look fear in the face…. If you keep on trying one day you will hit the nail on the head. Remember, the finest steel gets sent through the hottest furnace.A winner is not one who never fails, but one who NEVER QUITS!

Allowing your mind to think extravagantly will lead you to extravagant dreaming! You know, the kind of dreaming you did when you were a kid, when opportunities were abundant. Your dreams were so big, you knew you had to grow into them.

It takes courage to dream big. But the reality is, the only difference between a dream and reality is ACTION! Unfulfilled dreams are just dreams that were never followed through with action. The danger in these unfulfilled dreams is that they begin to affect your success in other areas of life. They begin to produce a scarcity pattern – a limiting consciousness. This was never supposed to be. We are the only creatures in all of creation with the ability to dream! Dreams lead to action. Action leads to reality.

Do you believe that dreams really do come true?

You used to believe this. Could it be that a collection of unfulfilled dreams has caused you to lose this precious gift? You can rekindle your innate ability to dream extravagantly by recalling some of the goals and dreams that you put off and decide what small act you’ll do today to rekindle them. Did you always want to learn how to play the piano? Call a piano teacher and get their fee schedule. Did you always want to play baseball? Go online to research your city leagues – even if it’s the over 40 league! Did you dream of going to far away places? Stop in a travel agency and pick up some brochures of these exotic places.

What small step toward your forgotten dream could you take right now? I can’t tell you enough how strongly this small step could affect your success mindset.

One of the major reasons why we fail to find happiness or to create a unique lifestyle is because we have not yet mastered the art of being.

While we are home our thoughts are still absorbed with solving the challenges we faced at the office. And when we are at the office we find ourselves worrying about problems at home.

We go through the day without really listening to what others are saying to us. We may be hearing the words, but we aren’t absorbing the message.

As we go through the day we find ourselves focusing on past experiences or future possibilities. We are so involved in yesterday and tomorrow that we never even notice that today is slipping by.

We go through the day rather than getting something from the day. We are everywhere at any given moment in time except living in that moment in time.

Lifestyle is learning to be wherever you are. It is developing a unique focus on the current moment, and drawing from it all of the substance and wealth of experience and emotions that it has to offer. Lifestyle is taking time to watch a sunset. Lifestyle is listening to silence. Lifestyle is capturing each moment so that it becomes a new part of what we are and of what we are in the process of becoming. Lifestyle is not something we do; it is something we experience. And until we learn to be there, we will never master the art of living well.
