Last week I came across a great post titled “Understanding the rules of great content” written by Tony Hung Problogger’s guest blogger and author of http://www.deepjiveinterests.com/
How many have heard of the 1/9/90 rule? Anyone? Yes, No?
It explains how bloggers create and interact with content and this is how it goes:
1% create content
9% enrich content
90% consume content
I’m aware that many bloggers are always bothered about creating groundbreaking and new content and when they cannot achieve this they become really sad and feel less “blogger-like”( forgive my expression).
If this rule is true then I say that as a blogger you do not need to be in the 1% all the time -where you need to be is the 9%. Just so we do not misunderstand things let me clarify what I mean by enrich content. You need to keep an eye out for novel content and when you find it enrich it by posting your view about it. From my point of view its like reading a post and then commenting about it, only this time you are commenting on your own blog.
This is, at its literal level, a license to report on other people’s content, but mind you it doesn’t give you the right to be an “echomaniac”.
1/9/90
SO IF YOU CAN BE THE 1% GOOD FOR YOU, IF NOT THE 9% IS ALSO THE PLACE TO BE BUT AS FOR THE 90%, FORGET IT.
