There was a fire out break at a U.S. ammunition dump base in southern Baghdad yesterday night, setting off series of explosions from detonating tanks and artillery shells that shook buildings miles away. The U.S. military said there were no immediate reports of casualties. We are not certain as to the cause of the fire out – break, though explosions from detonating tank and artillery armaments and small-arms ammunition stored at the site set out for hours after the fire out – break and an attempt to speak with a U.S military spokesmen Lt. Col. Christopher C. Garver proved abortive. Thick flames and smoke from the site as well as flashes from the blasts and showers of sparks were visibly seen several miles away in central Baghdad, where the vigor of the blasts is possibly felt. The blasts were sporadically rapid in succession. The site of the blast is located in an expansive industrial area at the southern entrance of Baghdad. It is near the violence-torn district of Dora, where U.S. troops have focused on to comb the capital neighborhood-by-neighborhood of militants and weapons (about 650 yards away from residential district of Dora).
