The story of a very brave woman in Bangladesh baffled me today as I read with rapt attention, eighteen-year-old Nazma Akhter and her husband Anwarul Islam, 25, were fishing for shrimp on Sunday in a canal on the fringes of the Sundarbans. A tiger suddenly appeared, bit the man on the knee and was dragging him off into the forest when his wife set off after the big cat with an oar. “This woman is extraordinarily courageous, because she alone fought the tiger and saved her husband,” said a Police Chief. It was reported that Ms Akhter kept the tiger at bay for 10 minutes and such was the beating it received from the paddle that it was forced to beat a retreat into the forest. This is no mean feat, there are very few women who would have done what she did if they were in her shoes. I personally salute her for her courage.

This is indeed courageous. You’d be shocked A.Y that you’d find women who are even more courageous. Courage is not restricted to some selected few(men).
