I was at a bank the other day to cash a cheque. After a long time on the queue outside, I finally found my way in. I walked over to the cashier’s desk, presented the cheque along with the usual requirement (school ID card) and waited for payment. Few minutes later, the cashier asked me for my driver’s license, International passport or my national ID card. I was stunned and I told him “Sorry, I don’t drive and I have no driver’s license and I certainly cannot be carrying my international passport around because it’s not safe.” As for the National ID card, I registered for it but I haven’t received it. He replied looking unconcerned, “I’m sorry; I can’t pay you because it’s one of the necessary requirements of the bank for security purposes.” This whole scenario brought back to my mind the difficulty I went through to register for the ID card and how the government spent a lot of money on the project and now it’s a failure. I really don’t have any problem with situations like this, but the management of these banks should know that it was not easy to register for the ID card, and for someone like me that registered, I should not suffer for a failed government white elephant project have(that’s what the ID project appears to me). After about 15 minutes argument with the cashier he did not pay me the money. I left the bank annoyed and promised not to go back there again.

Two wrongs can’t be right. dont be angry with bank officials. they are doing their job. As for our govt, no talk for now. Go back with ur int’l passport or are u saying u dash them ur money?
