This morning, I woke up startled and was about to go back to sleep, when I heard someone scream, “YOU’VE GOT TO GET UP, DONT YOU KNOW YOU HAVE A CLASS BY 8″. “Alright, alright, I’ve heard.” I think I survived the first few moments that everyone goes through each time they are awakened from drunken sleep but as I was about to get on my feet, I found myself on the floor. I think that was enough to spice up my mood, so I started grumbling. My sister walked in, wondering why I was so upset but I still went on muttering, so she ignored me. By the time I got in for the class, my mood hadn’t gotten any better. I think my lecturer noticed and decided to put me on the spot. So he says, “Yes you, what questions do you have for me today on The Merchant of Venice?” I was totally speechless and embarrassed, because I didn’t read the text, so I struggled to take charge of the situation and finally, I coaxed one out of my dull brain and it went something like this, “Well why is Portia so assertive, does it mean Shakespeare is trying to portray women as domineering?” He says, “Good question” and moves on. That was a close one, don’t you think? But it did the trick, it got me out of the cranky mood.
